Cinegraffic Score
by iloobia
4' 51''/ footage / UK / 2022

‘Cinegraffic Score’ is a 6 meter collage of orphaned and found celluloid film. This is reconfigured into a graphic musical score, with obscure narratives emerging as the film is reanimated. The soundtrack emerges from magnetic tape loops, field recordings, audio fragments and a DIY visual synthesiser.

Tim Grabham (AKA iloobia) is an award winning film maker who has produced still and moving image work independently for 30 years. His work has been presented internationally at festivals, cinemas, online, television and galleries.

Kolmas Punkt (The Third Point) by Alina Taalman
Kolmas Punkt (The Third Point)
by Alina Taalman
22' 30'' / 16mm / Estonia / 2019

I’m on the island, thinking of you, trying to find something familiar that will make you feel less far away. For centuries, a surveying method using triangulation has been used to find the location of a point too far away to measure. By determining the relative angles between near points of a triangle, one only has to be able to see the distant third point in order to plot where it is on a map. Using this method, complicated coastlines have been mapped, arcs of longitude established, and the shape of the earth itself discovered.
After my grandfather left Estonia for a life at sea, there were only fragments left to explain where he had come from.
Returning to Estonia with his letters and thinking of the third point as a measure of distant time, I sought to uncover generations of family identities in a country that had long had to struggle to maintain its own.

Alina Taalman is a filmmaker currently living in North Carolina.
